LandLAB have developed a Public Realm Plan for Auckland's iconic 'K Road' character precinct including the proposed upgrade of Karangahape Road. The streetscape proposal re-prioritises the streets hierachy and function to integrate a new cycle path and provide an enhanced and expanded public realm. The preferred cross section was developed through extensive design investigation and stakeholder consultation and includes a seperated Copenhagen cycle path, widened footpaths, new street trees, low impact design/green infrastructure and a site specific suite of urban furniture. The projects implementation is proposed via a phased strategy which includes a series of tactical urbanism interventions to test and refine the design proposals.
